Diecast Model Car Collectibles
Are Diecast Model Car Collectibles a Good Investment?Article about diecast model car collectibles, starting a collection.
Are you interested in diecast model car collectibles? How do you get started collecting? It's simple, whether you go for the old standard, Hot Wheels Diecast or fancy Action diecast Nascar diecast cars, you will always find something worth having and displaying. Don't collect to invest, you will never get satisfaction from your investment. You're better off buying stocks. Diecast model car collecting is about loving cars. The tiny 1:64 scale Hot Wheels diecast for a dollar at the grocery store may one day be worth $100 or more, its value will come as a loved miniature well before it gains any value what so ever.
The same is true for the favored 1:18 scale or 1:12 or even huge the 1:6 scale. Sure we use the "It's an investment" excuse for our wives and girl friends. The truth is we buy them because we love them. We love the detail, the craftsmanship and because... we love cars. A good collectors item is the one we love and would hate to part with. Diecast model car collectibles have value BECAUSE they are loved so much that those who own them can't part with them and those who want them are willing to pay.
Now of course, you can look at what's popular in the world of cars or diecast or both, but popularity means commonality. If that new BMW diecast is wanted by everyone and their cousin, then the ones who want it will already have it. Collectible value comes from a model that gains popularity after the manufacturing run is over. Buy what you love. You will be happier with your purchase no matter if it is that popular BMW diecast, an old dinky diecast Porsche diecast from 1967 or the $1 Mustang diecast by Hot Wheels.
How about this, the next time you are at the grocery store, pick up 3 Hot Wheels Diecast cars. Hang them on the wall in your office at home or box them up in the closet on the shelf and forget about them. In a year when you think about it or find them again, look them up on ebay. If they are worth $2 a piece, you have just doubled your profits. Try doing that in the stock market.
Then again, if you happen to run into that Autoart Lamborghini Gallardo, you love it and you have $450 to spare, pick it up. A limited edition work of art like that will look beautiful on your office shelf and in 5 years, who knows what value it will have to a collector. That's if you can part with it.
